Welcome to MadIrishfootball – a site for the laid back Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan.
My name is John Nasello and I’ve been a Notre Dame (and collegiate football fan) since Saturday, November 28th, 1964: a day that goes down in Irish infamy. I recall listening to the radio broadcast of the loss to USC in Los Angeles as the Irish went down in defeat in the final minutes.
This was a defeat that cost the Irish the National Championship. Some say it was more of a royal screwing than an outright loss! Even though that was a painful day, thus began a journey for me that has been very enjoyable up to the present: that of following collegiate football. I have started this site in order to share that interest with others that have that burning desire in following college football.
From Hobby to Mad Passion
As the years have progressed for me, my interest in football has never waned. In the last couple of years due to the so-called global economy (I call it the purge of America’s white-collar and blue-collar jobs), I have decided to take my interest to an even higher level.
With extra time on my hands, I have decided now is a good time for a possible career change. Working in the financial sector for the past 23 years, it never dulled my excitement for the Saturdays beginning with the dog days of August, up until the culmination of the season with the National Championship game in mid-winter.
Why MadIrishFootball ?
The site is for not only my enjoyment, but for all college football enthusiasts everywhere. All Notre Dame sports will be fair game, not just football! And while the Fighting Irish are my favorites, I am open to all fans of other collegiate teams. I will also have areas for general topics that I define under love and life.
I enjoy life to the fullest and these areas will be open to those that want to discuss topics other than just sports. I enjoy a political debate as well as a funny story here and there as much as anyone.
